Expedited Commercial Water Removal Helps Save Chicago Resort's Reputation

When people make reservations to visit a resort in Chicago, they expect to find everything in top condition when they arrive. If any change is expected, most people would want an upgrade, such as a nicer room or extra services at no additional cost. A water loss incident can ruin the stay for customers, and damage the reputation of a resort.

After receiving a call to handle water removal at a Chicago Resort, our SERVPRO team had to ensure a fast turnaround to minimize or eliminate any inconvenience that visitors would experience. We scoped the loss to determine the time it would take to complete restoration, allowing the management to disseminate clear information to guests already at the resort. Apart from choosing steps that would expedite the restoration, we also had to use the fastest approaches when implementing them. We chose:

  •     Partial Instead of complete move-out
  •     Closed drying system
  •     High-speed extraction equipment
  •     Specialized floor drying

Having sufficient space to maneuver when removing water from property helps speed up the process. Moving furniture such as beds and other contents from the wet areas helped create the room we needed. However, performing a full move-out to an external storage facility would take time, so we choose a partial move out, such as stripping bedding and moving it to dry rooms.

Most of the water had settled on the floor surfaces necessitating wet vacuuming and other forms of water extraction. Our SERVPRO technicians used a truck-mounted water extractor because of its faster rate of water extraction, thus completing the job faster.

On finalizing the extraction, we also had to dry the rooms, including the wooden floors that hard absorbed some of the standing water. We set up drying mats on the floors to extract moisture while running air movers and dehumidifiers in the rooms to dry other surfaces and remove excess humidity from the air.

Water loss incidents should not lead to extended business closure. Call SERVPRO of West Loop / Bucktown / Greektown at (773) 434-9100 to help manage any incident, "Like it never even happened."
